Parsing
Parsing is an essential of the SWTOR diet, namely to answer the eternal question: do I suck or am I doing ok?
The following tools and sites will give you the data oomph you have been missing to measure progress and see if you can keep up with other puny mortal carbon-based life forms.
Also in case you’re wondering on DPS measurement units to see if you’re “tall enough to ride to get into operations without being a carry”, the common metrics parsing the dummy are:
- Story mode: 15,000 DPS
- Hard mode: 20,000 DPS
- Nightmare mode: 25,000 DPS
This does it compensate for mechanics or other shenanigans.
1- STARPARSE
StarParse is the grandaddy and most use 1parsing tool and overlay for SWTOR.
My recommendation is to use Swtorista’s guide to get the 101 on how to use it.
Once you have tinkered with it and see what results you get, go and compare your performance for your class on StarParse’s sister site Parsely.io where you can see what is happening on parsing dummies and on bosses, see players’ rotations and more.
Bear in mind that I heard that development has ceased (rumor?) and is Windows-centric.
2- TOR HUD
The new kid on the block is TOR HUD, which does a pretty decent job of parsing what is happening. Also it’s available on Windows, Mac an Linux.
3- ORBS STATS
A lesser known tool but worthy of your attention is Orbs Stats. It’s more mature than TOR HUD as the website also tracks player/activity data. Go give it a whirl!
